Some of the things that we could do is to help our parents out in the kitchen, compliment someone, do a favour for someone, help your neighbour with the garden, smile and say hello, we could pick up the rubbish in the playground.
Give put ups!

He looks fluffy and cuddly but be warned, his blue and white furry tips are disguising his evil and ghoastly personality. His eyes are blood red and white, outlining his pupils. He is short, only 2 feet tell. This disgustingly, horrifying creature has teeth as sharp as 12 by 12 yellow, unclean knives, set in a row. This mysterios creature that stalks you, remains unknown.

Persuasive Writing -
Room 9 has started to learn about persuasive writing. On Monday our thoughts were collected. Following are the main points:
Persuasive
Writing- What we thought:
Persuasive writing is when you talk someone into doing
something for you.
Persuasive writing is when you try to convince someone that
your point of view is better.
Persuasive writing is to blackmail someone by making
something sound exciting.
It is when you are trying to change someone’s opinion with
facts that support your argument.
Persuasive writing starts with an introduction and finishes
with a conclusion. You can use a “fish
hook “at the start to grab the reader’s interest.
It contains expression, adjectives and rhetorical questions
It contains proper grammar, descriptive language,
interesting facts which are paragraphed.
It needs to be punctuated correctly
Use facts to make the writing easy to understand.
Each sentence needs to make sense.
It will have several main ideas.
It could contain technical language.
The ideas are ordered.
Which points do you agree with and which ones do you think are not really related to persuasive writing?

Word Detectives - Reading
This article relates to the book, "Frindle" and how new words are added to the dictionary as they become common usage.
Once you have read the article on the site; KiwiKids News, then go to the recall question section and complete this work in your Reading Book.
Would your new word eventually get entered into the Oxford Dictionary?
What would you have to do to ensure that it did become common usage?

Goal Setting
After watching a short video, Room 9 had a discussion around goals. Below are the key points from the discussion.
What are goals?
We think that goals are something that we would like to achieve in the future.
Why is it important to set goals?
Goals help you to reflect on the future and help you to stay focused.
DIFFERENT TYPES OF GOALS
There are different types of goals:
Short term goals and long term goals
For example a long term goal maybe to get fit.
A short term goal relating to this would be: exercise for 30 minutes 3 times a week.
There are also concrete and abstract goals. Concrete goals are measurable and you know what you have to do to achieve them; e.g By July, I would like to improve my basic facts score by 20. This will help me improve my mathematics.
It is better to set concrete goals.
WHERE TO NEXT?
We are going to set two goals.
One goal will be academic. We will choose one area of our work that we would like to strengthen.
The other goal will be a social goal. This could be making new friends or being more organised for lessons.
We are looking forward to sharing these goals with our friends and family members next week.
We will also have to identify the steps we will take in order to achieve our goals
.

How Do We Learn Best?
Learning is individual. Some people like to work at tables, some prefer the floor. Noise can be distracting for some people when they are concentrating however others are the complete opposite. How do you learn best and can using elearning tools make a difference to your learning?
Today Room 9 began to identify how they learn best so that as a group we can create an environment where learning is enhanced.
