Goal Setting

After watching a short video, Room 9 had a discussion around goals. Below are the key points from the discussion.

What are goals?
We think that goals are something that we would like to achieve in the future.
Why is it important to set goals?
Goals help you to reflect on the future and help you to stay focused.
DIFFERENT TYPES OF GOALS
There are different types of goals:
Short term goals and long term goals
For example a long term goal maybe to get fit.
A short term goal relating to this would be:  exercise for 30 minutes 3 times a week.
There are also concrete and abstract goals. Concrete goals are measurable and you know what you have to do to achieve them; e.g By July, I would like to improve my basic facts score by 20. This will help me improve my mathematics.
It is better to set concrete goals.
WHERE TO NEXT?
We are going to set two goals.
One goal will be academic. We will choose one area of our work that we would like to strengthen.
The other goal will be a social goal. This could be making new friends or being more organised for lessons.
We are looking forward to sharing these goals with our friends and family members next week.
We will also have to identify the steps we will take in order to achieve our goals
.

How Do We Learn Best?

Learning is individual. Some people like to work at tables, some prefer the floor. Noise can be distracting for some people when they are concentrating however others are the complete opposite. How do you learn best and can using elearning tools make a difference to your learning?
Today Room 9 began to identify how they learn best so that as a group we can create an environment where learning is enhanced.
